Colonial Boston Social Studies Unit

For the last few months, we have been studying British colonization of North America.  Each student took on a character in Colonial Boston and worked with his or her "family members" in the class to make decisions regarding polarizing events such as the Stamp Tax, the Boston Massacre, and the Boston Tea Party.  One of the first things that we did was create a frieze of Colonial Boston.  Each family group made a building for their business and living quarters, and their attention to detail was impressive.  We also had the opportunity to participate in a colonial music and dance workshop, which was a fun and interesting experience.  Finally, we enjoyed our very own tea party, complete with finger sandwiches, shortbread, and, of course, tea!
